What equipment or skills do I need to take this course?

To benefit from the course, you must be able to work independently and be comfortable using a computer.

Can I take a paper test instead of online?

No. The online driver improvement course and final test must be completed through a DMV-licensed online driver improvement clinic. No paper test is permitted.

How long is the course?

The online driver improvement clinic course is an eight-hour course, including the final test. It is designed to rehabilitate problem drivers. The course must be completed in its entirety before a certificate of completion can be issued.

What does each “Reason for Attendance” option mean?

  • Court Ordered: For court-mandated courses. No points awarded unless documentation is provided.
  • Virginia DMV Ordered: Required by DMV due to excessive points or license suspension.
  • Safe Driving Points: Voluntarily earn 5 safe driving points to improve your driving record.
  • Insurance Discount: May lower your insurance premium—especially if you're 55+.

Will my identity be verified?

Yes. Student identification will be verified throughout the training and before the final test to ensure the same person is completing the course and test.

I was told by the court I would be awarded safe driving points, what should I do?

Customers directed by the court must provide documentation from the court before safe driving points can be awarded.

When will I get my certificate?

The certificate of completion will be electronically transmitted to all individuals upon successful completion of the course within 24 hours.

What proof do I get after completing the course?
